Welcome to our business

Hello neighbors! We’re excited to introduce ourselves as a local family business located in Lancaster County, PA, specializing in stump grinding! With decades of experience in the arborist and landscaping area, I have now focused on only stump grinding! Our commercial-grade grinders are here to help you enhance the beauty of your property by removing those stubborn stumps. Many tree services only cut down the tree, but leave the stump to be an eye sore and pests magnet. This is where we come in! We will grind the stump down to approximately 4 inches below ground level, allowing for healthy grass growth! Looking for a deeper solution? We’ve got you covered! We can grind stumps as deep as 10-12 inches to make sure your property shines again with more than just grass! Exposed ground roots can also be ground with our machine. We can grind near most structures including foundations, large boulders and fences. We utilize debris shields around the grinder to mitigate flying debris and keep the site contained and safe. Many companies do not go this extra mile to protect your house, vehicles, etc. Grinding is much more affordable than excavating the entire stump, which may also destabilize the ground creating future sink holes or other issues. Grinding maintains the integrity of the ground's structure. See "Why Stump Grinding" below for more information.

More about what we do

Stump Grinding at its Best!!

Stump grinding comes with a wide range of advantages that can greatly enhance both the appearance, curb appeal, and safety of your property. One of the most significant benefits is improvement of your landscape’s aesthetics. By getting rid of those unsightly stumps, you create a much cleaner and more visually pleasing outdoor space. Additionally, removing these stumps helps to eliminate potential insurance liability hazards around your property, reducing the risk of tripping accidents for both residents and visitors. Grinding also protects your lawn equipment from damage occurring when navigating around obstacles and plays a key role in promoting healthier soil and plant growth. By eliminating stumps, you reduce competition for vital nutrients and space, which ultimately leads to a more vibrant, lush, and flourishing landscape that you can enjoy for years to come. Most importantly, grinding will remove potential havens for pests, such as Bees, Termites, Carpenter Ants, and Red Ants, that often invade home structures.

Why Stump Grinding?

Key Benefits of Stump Grinding:

  • Improved Aesthetics and Property Value: Stumps are often considered eyesores that can make a well-kept yard look neglected. Grinding them down restores a clean, seamless appearance, which increases your property's curb appeal and potential resale value.

  • Enhanced Safety: Stumps, even small ones, pose significant tripping hazards for family members, especially children and the elderly. Removing them eliminates this risk and prevents potential injuries and liability issues. We can also grind roots that are tripping hazards and eye sores for your property.

  • Easier Lawn Care and Landscaping: Mowing around stumps is difficult and time-consuming. Hitting a stump can cause expensive damage to lawnmowers and other landscaping equipment. Grinding the stump creates a level, clear area that is easy to maintain and prepares the ground for new projects like planting a garden, installing hardscaping, or adding a playset.

  • Pest and Disease Infestation Prevention: Decaying wood is highly attractive to unwanted pests such as termites, carpenter ants, and beetles, which can spread from the stump to healthy trees or even your home. Stumps can also harbor fungus and diseases that might infect surrounding plants. Grinding the stump eliminates these potential habitats and sources of infection.

  • Prevents Regrowth: Certain tree species (like willow or cottonwood) can sprout new, unwanted growth from the leftover stump and root system, requiring repeated removal efforts. Grinding the stump below the soil level destroys the root flare, which significantly reduces the chance of future sprouting.

  • Environmentally Friendly: The process produces valuable wood chips that can be repurposed as organic mulch for garden beds, helping to retain soil moisture, regulate temperature, and suppress weeds. This reduces waste and improves soil health.

  • Cost and Time Efficiency: Stump grinding is generally faster and more cost-effective than full stump removal, which often requires extensive excavation and heavy machinery. Most grinding jobs can be completed in just a few hours.

By opting for stump grinding, you are proactively managing your landscape's health and functionality, creating a safer, more usable, and visually appealing outdoor space.

Stump
Grinding

(Grinding Only)

A standard stump grinding will consist of a pre-work free consultation and quote. If hired I will arrive on the scheduled date and time and set up the machine at the stump(s) site. I will provide debris barrier backstops to provide protection from any flying debris. This will also maintain the debris in one area for easier clean up. I will then grind the stump as agreed upon. Afterwards, I will either rake out the remaining clippings level in the stumps area or if requested I can rake the clippings into a pile next to the work area for the homeowner to use as they wish. The stump hole will be filled with the dirt/clippings from the job.

Grass Seed Planting

As an available option, I can plant Contractor/Landscaper grade grass seed on top of leveled new topsoil on the immediate area of the stump removal process. I will still be raking the clippings into a pile as not to impede the new grass seed growth. The owner is responsible for watering and insuring the grass seed germinates after I leave the job. I will be happy to provide advice!!

Chippings Relocation

Another available option that we can discuss is moving the grinding clippings to another location on your property. This will be done be wheelbarrow and will be priced based on many factors such as amount of clippings, distance of relocation, terrain of location, etc. We will work out a plan that makes you happy.

* I do not provide complete removal of grinding chips/debris off property. (Most stumps produce 2-3x its volume in clippings. Many people use them as mulch or in compost piles. I will be happy to provide you several ideas/options/suggestions.
